Planning Your Move to a Smaller Home

You are ready to replace your family home with a smaller home, when:

* Your children are now living on their own, married or moved away to attend school.

* You want to leave the city and settle into a cottage you have always dreamed about.

* You are tired of the maintenance, expense and upkeep of your home.

Here are three steps to planning your move to a smaller home:

1.  Plan.

It took many years to acquire what you have. It will take time to clear it out before you move.

2.  Sort.

Identify the items to throw away, give to children, donate to charity or sell.

3.  Throw Out.

Throw out anything you have not used in a couple of years.
